The first week of school went great! They are a wonderful group of students and I am so excited to work with them this year! Last week, we worked on getting some of the classroom routines down, learning our names, discussing classroom and school rules, and started working on some academics. This week will be hard for the students as they are going from coming only until 12 to being at school the whole day. Please make sure they are getting enough sleep and let me know if they are really struggling with the transition. I think they will all be fine. J Please note that Parent Information Evening is on Tuesday (6th). That evening I will be explaining what we are going to do this year and the way life in Kindergarten and WIS works. I hope to see you all there!

I will start assessing the students in reading, math, and writing this week to see where they are at. We will also be doing some literacy and math centers that will give me a good idea as to each child’s individual level.

We will be starting our “Who We Are” unit of inquiry this week. In this unit the students will be learning about friendship. We will discuss what it means to be a friend, how to be a friend, why we need friends, and many other topics related to friendship. In this unit the students will also be thinking about their own interests and who they are individually. This is a fun unit and I think the students will enjoy it!
*Special Note*
The K and Pre-K students will only be changing their shoes and shirts for P.E. This will ensure that the students get more time in P.E. P.E. bags will be kept in the Cloak Room on the hooks labeled P.E. and the students shirts need to be taken home and washed every Friday. Thank you!!!
Things to Practice at Home:

Please also make sure you and your child are reading together! This makes a HUGE difference.
